This consent statement governs your participation in a scam awareness simulation exercise organised by OGP, GovTech. The exercise is designed to educate members of the public on recognising and responding to scam attempts, conducted in a controlled and safe environment.
Your participation is entirely voluntary. By completing registration, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to all terms in this statement.
Our teams are built as a collaborative effort between GovTech, partner agencies, and third-party collaborators where applicable (hereafter referred to as “the Team”). All rights consented to below are shared across all entities in the Team, which may change across the course of the exercise.
Your registration details — your name, mobile number, and age — will be used solely to identify your participation in this exercise and to track your participation across related studies where applicable.
Team members not directly involved in conducting your session will only have access to an anonymous participant ID. Your personal details will not be disclosed to the wider Team or to any external party.
The full design, timing, and method of this simulation exercise cannot be disclosed to you prior to or during your participation, as doing so would compromise the validity of the research.
You have been informed that this is a scam awareness exercise, where built-in safety mechanisms ensure no one is put at real risk. However, the specific scenarios, contact methods, and interaction formats will not be disclosed in advance. This constitutes incomplete disclosure, which is a standard and ethically approved practice in simulation-based research.
Some interactions during this exercise may be conducted through automated or digital systems. The nature of these systems is part of the simulation design and cannot be disclosed prior to your participation.
You will receive a full debrief upon conclusion of your simulation. This debrief will explain the scam scenario used, the methods employed, and how to identify similar scams in the future.
Support resources are available at any time at support@scamvaccine.gov.sg and will also be provided on the debrief page at the conclusion of your simulation.
As part of this exercise, the Team may contact you through one or more communication channels, which may include phone calls or WhatsApp.
The specific timing, channel, and manner of contact cannot be disclosed in advance, as doing so may affect the validity of the simulation. By registering, you consent to being contacted through these channels for the purposes of this exercise.
The following may be captured during your participation:
GovTech will own all rights in respect of all records, recordings, and data generated during your participation. All data will be retained by GovTech for audit, record-keeping, and research purposes.
Records, recordings, and learnings from your session may be used for the following purposes:
Your anonymised data may be used in aggregated statistics for internal or external reporting (e.g. “500 participants completed the simulation; 65% identified the scam within the first interaction”). These statistics may be published. They will not identify you personally.
All personal data collected will be securely stored and handled in accordance with GovTech’s Privacy Statement. Only authorised Team members will have access to identifiable data.
Anonymised verbatim quotes and still images or screenshots from your session may be reported to entities outside the Team, limited to the purposes described above.
Your data will be held and processed solely by the Team. It will not be shared with external vendors or third-party platforms for storage or processing purposes.
Everything you encounter in this exercise may be confidential and protected under the Official Secrets Act.
You agree not to disclose or discuss the design, scenarios, or content of this exercise with others who have not yet participated, as doing so may compromise the experience for future participants.
This restriction does not apply to content that enters the public domain through no fault of yours, or to disclosures made after the exercise has officially concluded.
This exercise is conducted in a controlled and safe environment. Built-in safety mechanisms are in place to ensure no participant is put at real risk at any point during the exercise.
You may exit the exercise at any time by writing to support@scamvaccine.gov.sg. Upon withdrawal, the simulation will be stopped.
All data collected up to the point of your withdrawal will be retained by GovTech for audit and record-keeping purposes. Data cannot be deleted upon request.
